Dr Yip Cheuk-wai at the Department of Literature and Cultural Studies and the team at the Research Centre for Chinese Literature and Literary Culture have been awarded a Publication Award in Social Science at the Hong Kong Publishing Biennial Awards 2023 for their book entitled ‘When the Leaves Fall and the Blossoms Blow: A Study of Thirty Cents Novels in Hong Kong’. 
 
The award-winning publication is the first monograph on the study of Thirty Cents Novels in Hong Kong, which includes discussions from scholars, cultural figures, and collectors. The book aims to recreate the appearance of the Thirty Cents Novels, describe their dissemination, display their publication information and record the memories of witnesses, in order to restore value to these once brilliant literary works.
